UNITED METHODIST WOMEN
I think most of us are glad February is over. Praise the Lord spring is just around the corner! As we enter into this season of lent, let us all remember to love one another as Jesus loves us. Continue your spiritual growth by praying for others, helping a neighbor or doing a random act of kindness for a stranger or shut-in. You will both be blessed by the experience.
With the weather being so unpredictable last month, we decided to skip the February program. With single digit temperatures and icy road conditions, we opted for the safety of all our members. We will continue with our programs in March.
Our March Program will be on Saturday morning, March 7 at 10 a.m. in Fellowship Hall. Our guest speaker will be author Sue Wunder, her book is titled Enough for Today. Sue is an extraordinary woman who was faced with a tremendous tragedy when her son was involved in a diving accident at 17 and became a quadriplegic. Sue and her family have gotten through this tragedy by asking our Dear Lord for enough to get her through today. Her book takes readers on a journey to deeper understanding of how to get through each day while leaning on our Lord. Copies of Sue's book will be available to purchase. We will also have a short Prayer & Self Denial Program.
This is a program you do not want to miss. Please invite all your family and friends to this uplifting and inspirational presentation! If needed, we will reschedule for a snow date in early April. If you would like to attend and your name is not on our calling list, please see Jeannine Gilman or myself. If you would like to help out on our dinner committee, please give me a call at 860-745-7180.
Thank you all for your continued support for the women, children & youth in our community and worldwide.
With all His Blessings,
Mary Ellen Scott
A MOTHER'S PRAYER
Make me a wise mother, O Lord. Keep me calm and give me patience to bear the small, irritating things in the daily routine of life. Give me tolerance and understanding to bridge the gulf between my generation and that of my children.
Let me not be too ready to guide my children’s stumbling feet, but allow me to be ever near to bind their bruises. Give me a sense of humor that I may laugh with them but never at them. Let me refrain from preaching with words; let me show by example instead.
Keep me from forcing their confidences, but give me a sympathetic ear when my children come to me. Make me humble. Keep my children close to me, O Lord, though miles may separate us. And let Thy light so shine upon me that they, too, will perceive Thy glory. Amen.
