UNITED METHODIST WOMEN

United Methodist Women April News

As we continue with our season of Lent, I Pray you are all reflecting on the sacrifices our Dear Lord made for each of us. What have we given up to be Disciples of Christ? Have you been kinder, have you helped someone in need, have you volunteered your time and resources? As we approach the celebration of the Resurrection, let us all remember to spread the Word of our Dear Lord and make a difference in someone's life.

Jeannine Gilman & I will continue to sell the cookbooks in April during coffee hour. The price of the hardcover book is $16.00. We are so excited to be able to present this as our Spring Fundraiser. Your friends and family will love getting this wonderful cookbook as an Easter or Mother's Day gift! Your support to United Methodist Women is greatly appreciated.

We are pleased to present Patsy Senter's sister, Barbara Hughes, for our April Program. She is an accomplished author and has supported her husband's Pastoral Ministries for 37 years while also raising four children. She is a popular teacher of women's groups. too. Her topic will be " A Calm Quiet Soul." This Event will be on April 5th in Fellowship Hall at 10 a.m. A free-will offering will be taken.

If you would like to attend and your name is not on our calling list, please see Jeannine Gilman or me; we will get you on the listing. In the next week or so, I will be calling some of you to see if you would like to help out on our Dinner Committee for April. If you have not signed up and would like to help out, please give me a call at 860-745-7180.

Thank you all for your continued support for the Women, Children & Youth in our community and worldwide.

With His Blessings,
Mary Ellen Scott, UMW President

A MOTHER'S PRAYER

Make me a wise mother, O Lord. Keep me calm and give me patience to bear the small, irritating things in the daily routine of life. Give me tolerance and understanding to bridge the gulf between my generation and that of my children.

Let me not be too ready to guide my children’s stumbling feet, but allow me to be ever near to bind their bruises. Give me a sense of humor that I may laugh with them but never at them. Let me refrain from preaching with words; let me show by example instead.

Keep me from forcing their confidences, but give me a sympathetic ear when my children come to me. Make me humble. Keep my children close to me, O Lord, though miles may separate us. And let Thy light so shine upon me that they, too, will perceive Thy glory. Amen.
