Calling All Evangelical & Orthodox United Methodists!
The Northeast Jurisdiction Evangelical Connection of United Methodists (NEJEC) will meet Friday October 31 to Saturday November 1. The meeting is for all laity and clergy who are interested in evangelism and a renewal of Biblical Christianity.
You are invited to the fall, 2014 gathering of the NEJEC 3:00 PM Friday, October 31st – 12:30 PM Saturday, November 1st 2014 on the campus of Evangelical Seminary in Myerstown, Pennsylvania.
Our main topic will be Distinctively Wesleyan Missions for the 21st Century, Presented by Asbury Theological Seminary President: Dr. Timothy C. Tennent.
There will also be time for worship, prayer, and denominational news. Come receive vital training, enjoy good fellowship, and be encouraged!
Mr. Saad Baligh Abd El Malek of Cairo, Egypt will join our worship service on July 20, 2014 to share a brief Gideon report. Mrs. Venice Faouad Abd El Malek will also attend worship that morning, as will a local Gideon representative, Bob Degree and his wife, Christine. Both couples will remain with us for the social hour following the service and to answer questions you may have regarding the Gideon Ministry in Egypt or locally.
Mr. Malek has been a Gideon since 1975 and served as Camp President, National co-Treasurer, and a National Field Officer in Egypt. Professionally, Mr. Malek is a Chemist and partner in the family's rubber industry company. He is an Elder in the Open Brethren Church. They have five adult children.
A retiring offering will be received that morning for the work of the Gideons.
COSTA RICA 2015
We are looking ahead to our 2015 Mission trips. If you are interested in being a part of this exciting mission adventure check out these dates. We were able schedule a team for February 14 -- 21 and April 18 -- 25.
We will keep the team size to a max of 15. This will include two spots on each team for qualified high school juniors and seniors.
Feeding the Hungry in Bushnell Park on Saturday Afternoons
We have set the 2014 dates for Trinity's turn to serve lunch to homeless and indigent people in Bushnell Park.
Please consider joining us in providing lunch on one of these days. Here are ways you might help: make sandwiches & pack lunches (1-2:30 PM), help to serve lunch in the park (2:30-4PM) and/or make cookies/bars to include in the lunches (any time).
This service is provided in partnership with Christ Cathedral Church in Hartford as part of the Hands-on Hartford Project. We generally serve between 70 and 100 people depending upon the time of year, weather and economic conditions. The folks who receive the lunches are very appreciative!
For the record, in one year with the help of area churches like ours, Christ Cathedral Church serves close to 13,000 weekend meals and just shy of 2,000 communion offerings in their Saturday church-by-the-pond program, just prior to lunch.
Check out the details on their website and see pictures of many our church servers in their photo album: Church Street Eats [email@example.com]
If you have questions or would like to volunteer to help, please contact Donna Myers (860-688-7230).
